The Competitive Program
“It’s the memories, the lessons, and the friendships formed through competitions that will stay with you forever.”
Ballare Dance Company competitive program consists of students from ages 5 to adult.
The school competes in acrobatics, ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, pointe, tap and musical theatre.

Ballare Performing Arts Centre hosts a Competitive Dance Company comprised of students who have a strong interest in dance, enjoy taking several classes a week and love to perform for an audience. Members of the Dance Company go to several dance competitions where they perform dances in front of a panel of judges. They are given a score based on several criteria such as technique, stage presence and style. They compete with other studios in a category such as jazz and are given a medal for their efforts. |
The experience of competition is a great one as students learn about teamwork, commitment, and striving for a personal best. Friendships develop amongst the dancers and their families. Everyone looks forward to competition weekends, especially the ‘away’ ones.
Ballare Dance Company competes at 3-4 dance competitions throughout the competition season. Venues include theatres in Guelph, Brantford, Vaughan, Waterloo and more. One competition is considered ‘away’ and is held in such areas of Ontario as London, Niagra Falls and Collingwood.
The Dance Company comes together each summer for a one-week dance intensive. As well, dancers are given the opportunities to participate in workshops at the studio and planned workshops at other venues.

Entrance into the Dance Company is by audition. Auditions will be held during the one-week dance workshop held the last week of August. This dance workshop is mandatory for all Dance Company participants.
